Digitizing Video Tapes

Our dad had a camcorder that he always carried with him, constantly recording videos of my sister and me in our childhood. I recently brought over all those videotapes from my parents' home, and I am in the process of digitizing them.

As I took the videos on tape and converted them to digital, forgotten memories from our childhood came vividly back to life. It warmed my heart to see images of our dad and mom back when they were younger.

The most frequently recorded scenes were of our violin practices, participation in competitions, and orchestra performances. I suppose our dad, an avid music lover, wanted to preserve the moments when we played musical instruments the most.

우리 아빠는 항상 캠코더를 메고 다니시면서, 우리 자매의 어린 시절의 모습을 부지런히 영상에 담아 주셨습니다. 최근에 친정집에 있던 그 비디오 테이프들을 모두 가져와서, 디지털로 변환하는 작업을 하고 있습니 다.

테이프에 기록된 영상을 디지털로 변환하는 작업을 하면서 잊고 있던 어린 시절의 추억들이 생생하게 떠올랐습니다. 지금보다 더 젊은 시절의 아빠와 엄마의 모습을 보니 마음이 따뜻해졌습니다.

가장 많이 녹화된 장면은 우리 자매의 바이올린 연습과 대회 참가, 그리고 오케스트라 연주였습니다. 음악을 좋아하셨던 아빠가 가장 남기고 싶은 순간들은 우리가 악기를 연주하는 모습이었나 봅니다.
