A Parent's Hopes for a Son Moving Out
아들의 독립 생활과 부모로서의 기원

My son got accepted into a university in another city. He started working part-time after applying for college and became financially independent. As parents, it's heartening to see our child embark on an independent life.​

However, we also worry that our financial situation might prevent our son from focusing on college life. Plus, it's sad to have him live so far away after living under the same roof for so long.

We've been practicing living apart from our son since last year. He has gone on a graduation trip with his friends to Busan, and traveled overseas with his grandmother and relatives. As parents who can't leave him an inheritance, we wanted to give our son a broader perspective on the world and fond memories of his family through these trips.​

As parents, we can only hope that our son will focus on his studies for a bright future and remain healthy.

아들은 타지에 있는 대학에 합격을 했다. 대학 지원을 하고부터 아르바이트를 시작하더니 경제적인 독립도 했다. 부모로서 독립 생활을 시작한 자식을 보니 든든하게 여겨진다.

하지만, 아들이 부모의 경제력이 걱정되어 대학 생활에 전념하지 못할까 봐 걱정이 들기도 한다. 그리고 오랫동안 한집에 살았던 자식이 멀리 떨어져 살게 되어 슬프기도 하다.​

우리는 지난해부터 아들과 떨어져 지내는 연습을 했다. 아들은 동창들과 부산으로 졸업 여행을 갔고, 할머니와 친척들이 함께한 해외여행도 갔다. 재산을 남겨 줄 수 없는 부모 입장에서, 이번 여행을 통해 아들이 세상에 대한 더 넓은 시야를 갖고 가족과의 좋은 추억을 남기게 해 주고 싶었다.​

아들이 자신의 밝은 미래를 위해 학업에 전념하고 건강하기를 부모로서 바랄 뿐이다.​
