아이의 이름 짓기

Naming a child is one of the first important choices that new parents must make. I, too, wanted the name to embody the meaning of how I wanted my child to grow up.

I agonized over it endlessly, even before the baby was born. However, my father-in-law wanted to provide the baby's name as a gift. So, we finally yielded that opportunity to him, albeit regretfully.

My father-in-law consulted with a well-known baby-naming expert and received several favorable names for the child. We chose one among them. The name I had in mind has become too common now, so I am grateful to my father-in-law gifting our child a special name.

아이의 이름을 짓는 것은 부모들이 처음으로 맞닥뜨리는 중요한 선택 중 하나이다. 나 역시 아 이가 어떻게 자랐으면 좋을지에 대한 의미를 이름에 담고 싶었다.

그래서 아이가 태어나기 전부터 수도 없이 고민을 했다. 하지만 장인어른께서 아이의 이름을 선 물하고 싶어 하셔서, 결국은 아쉽지만 그 기회를 양보해 드렸다.

장인어른께서는 용하다는 작명소에서 상담을 받고 아이에게 좋다는 이름을 몇 개 받아 오셨다.

우리는 그중 하나를 택했다. 내가 생각했던 이름은 지금 너무 흔한 이름이 되었기 때문에, 특별 한 이름을 아이에게 선물해 주신 장인어른께 감사드린다.
