뱅갈 고무나무

A while ago, I received a banyan rubber tree branch as a gift. The person who gave it to me said that if I placed it in water, fine roots would grow from it after two weeks. Then I could move it to a flowerpot. I immediately put the plan into action.

I searched for information online and did the best I could to quickly obtain roots from the branch. I filled a narrow-mouthed bottle with water and placed the branch in it. I then put it in a dark place, keeping it away from direct sunlight. After 2 or 3 weeks, roots sprouted from the branch. So, I transplanted the banyan rubber tree into a suitably sized flowerpot, along with some soil.
I even gave it a name: "Bengali."

Now, "Bengali" radiates a brilliant green, becoming a source of healing in my life. Simply gazing at it is enough to lift my spirits.

얼마 전에 뱅갈 고무나무 가지 하나를 선물 받았습니다. 선물을 주신 분이 나뭇가지를 물에 꽂아 놓으 면 2주 뒤에 가지에서 얇은 뿌리가 나오는데, 그때 화분에 옮겨 심으면 된다고 했어요. 저는 곧바로 실 행에 옮겼습니다.

인터넷에서 정보를 찾아보고, 나뭇가지에서 빨리 뿌리를 얻을 수 있도록 노력했어요. 입구가 좁은 병 에 물을 담아 나뭇가지를 그 안에 넣었어요. 그러고는 햇빛이 들지 않는 어두운 장소에 두었더니, 2~3주 후에 가지에서 뿌리가 자라났어요. 그래서 적당한 크기의 화분에 흙과 함께 뱅갈 고무나무를 옮겨 심었습니다. '뱅갈이'라는 이름도 지어 주었어요.

지금 '뱅갈이'는 영롱한 초록빛을 마구 뿜어내며, 제 삶의 힐링 포인트가 되었답니다. 보고만 있어도 저 절로 기분 전환이 되는 존재가 되었어요.
