Speaking Proficiency Assessment​

At the company where I work, we utilize a face-to-face interview-style English speaking proficiency assessment called SPA (Speaking Proficiency Assessment). Through this test, we can evaluate the employees' level of proficiency in English. The SPA has been adopted by many companies, both domestically and abroad. It is used for various practical evaluations in the field, such as talent acquisition, performance evaluations, and selecting employees to be assigned overseas.

The test is conducted in a face-to-face interview format with two examiners and one test-taker. There are a total of five questions, and the evaluation takes about 12 to 13 minutes. The question where you listen to a passage twice and then summarize it is especially tricky.

The highest possible score is 96 points for native-level fluency. The minimum criteria foraselection to be assigned overseas will vary from 45 to 50points, depending on the job role. Fortunately, I received a score of 51 for the SPA in July 2022. That makes me eligible to apply for overseas assignments!

대면 인터뷰 영어 말하기 평가, SPA

제가 재직하고 있는 회사에서는 SPA(Speaking Proficiency Assessment)라는 대면 인터뷰 방식의 영어 구술 능력 평가를 활용하고 있습니다. 이 시험을 통해 임직원들의 영어 실력 수준을 평가합니다. SPA 는 국내외 다수 기업에서 채택하고 있습니다. 인재 채용, 인사고과, 해외 주재원 선발 등 현장에서 다양한 실무 평가로 활용되고 있습니다.

시험 진행은 시험관 2명과 응시자 1명의 대면 인터뷰 형식으로 이루어집니다. 문제는 총 5개 문항이며 평가는 약 12~13분 정도 진행됩니다. 특히 지문을 두 번 듣고 내용을 요약하는 문제는 정말 까다롭습니다.​

점수는 원어민 수준의 구사력을 기준으로 96점이 만점입니다. 해외 주재원 선발을 위한 최소 기준은 직군에 따라 45점에서 50점까지로 다 다릅니다. 다행히 저는 2022년 7월에 SPA51점을 받았고, 그로 인해 해외 주재원에 지원할 수 있게 되었습니다!
